Wet, Smelly Dog

When your doggy comes in wet and smelly, take some time to rub him/her down with a dryer sheet. It will make the dog feel better and make your nose much happier.

Creaky Floors

If you squeeze a little soapy water into the cracks of a squeaky floor it helps reduce that irritating noise

Oranges and Lemons

Save all of the peeling from oranges and lemons throughout the year. Dry these and store them in a cloth sack. Toss a few of these into your winter fire in the home. They will crackle and pop and cause a few sparks, but will make the home smell clean and fresh.

Blood Stains On Clothing

Blood stains can be removed by making a paste of starch and water. Rub very well and let it dry. Brush the stain away. If on white linen or muslin, ammonia works well to remove the stain

Grass Stains On Clothing

To remove grass stains on clothing, rub the stain with alcohol and wash immediately.

Rust Stains On Clothing

Rust stains on clothing can be removed by rubbing a fresh cut lemon onto a damp cloth and then rubbing this on the rust stains. Sprinkle table salt on the stain and set it out in the sun. When dry, repeat this entire process until the stain is gone.

Fruit Stains

To get rid of fruit stains on clothing, rub the stain with whiskey before washing the item

Mosquitoes

Hang mashed pennyroyal in cloth bags along the outside of the home, especially the porch, and it will deter mosquitoes

Flies

Keep flies away by spreading hanfuls of clover blossoms and bay leaves around the outside of your house, especially the porch. Cloves will also keep flies away.

Chickens

If your chickens head for a dry place when the rain comes, it will rain only for a short time. If they stay out, it will rain all day
