Insect bite/sting

Take the pain out of an insect bite or sting by holding a hot, wet plantain leaf on it.

Arthritis/Rheumatism

For relief of pain associated with arthritis and rheumatism, lightly boil comfrey and plantain leaves. Put handfuls of the warm wet leaves on a cloth and apply where it hurts.

Feet (blisters)

Cooked carrots, mashed into a lump of lard make a healing poultice for blisters. Use a steamed Plantain leaf to bandage it to the blistered area.

These are not only wonderful tasting, they can prevent and heal ulcers of the stomach. Go for the green! Powder made from unripe plantains helps best with ulcers. Fiber from unripe plantains is great for high cholesterol. Just remember, unripe plantains are best, especially the large ones.
